Battlefields of The Somme and Belgium

Kate has obviously spent an enormous amount of time making this tour itinerary perfect – I don’t think you could experience a better view of the Somme or have a more knowledgeable guide – thank you.

I have wanted to visit this area for years – my father fought on the Somme and so there were some emotional moments. It was also such a pleasure to encounter the warmth and genuine regard that the French of this region have for Australians because of their involvement in the war.

I loved this area! I just have an interest in France and French history generally but had no idea what an impact Australians had up there – incredible.

I was a bit hesitant about this tour as I thought it would be too emotional – but Kate injected such a delightful note into the tour – just the right mix. We did have some amazingly moving moments and just as many spent laughing and chatting about our discoveries in the evenings.

Our note is to express our heartfelt thanks for your thoughtfulness and generosity during our wonderful Battlefields tour. You made everyone feel so special. Every day was different, interesting, revealing and produced moments of great sadness – and on occasions revelations, humour and hope (from the soldiers). The majesty of the national monuments of Canada, South Africa, Germany, NZ, UK and Australia reflected on the loss of so many beautiful young men lost forever.
