In more detail

The name Provence conjures up images of lavender and olive trees, perched villages and colorful characters such as those portrayed by Peter Mayle in his famous books. But Provence also boasts a fascinating history, embodied in some of the most intact Roman ruins in the world, and the magnificent Pope’s Palace of Avignon. Delicious Mediterranean cuisine, Cote du Rhone wines and vibrant country markets complete the allure of one of the most beautiful and enticing regions in France.

Our tour includes the discovery of famous Provencal artists, writers and personalities such as Van Gogh, Mistral and Nostradamus. We explore the history of the region including Roman times, the Medieval era, the Great Schism and the residency of the Popes in Provence, and WW2 and the strong cells of the French Resistance in the Luberon.

We stay for 10 days in an exquisite boutique hotel that has been created with loving care from an historic mill house, retaining waterways running from the adjacent Sorgue river and adding delightful outdoor areas where you can spend your evenings relaxing.

Picture yourself sitting in a small village square under the plane trees, surrounded by ochre toned buildings, soaking up the Provencal sun... in front of you a selection of delicious regional cuisine and a glass of local wine. Days by the Mediterranean Sea, long lunches in mouth watering, atmospheric restaurants and shopping for local produce such as pottery, linen, antiques, food and wine in the best markets complete an irresistible itinerary.
