French en Famille
Mid Year July School holidays .
13 nights, 14 days (for Vic students)
11 nights, 12 days (for students from other states)
Starts and ends in Paris
3 star hotel accommodation
A unique opportunity for mothers or fathers to experience an educational French holiday with their children!
• Do you love travelling, and France?
• Do you have a teenage daughter or son learning French at school?
• Are you looking for a well organised, stimulating and unforgettable bonding experience with your teenager, in the company of other parents?
• France en Famille is an attractive alternative to French immersion programs where your student has to be away from home for weeks or months.
As parents of teenagers ourselves, we know that many teenage students are not comfortable spending time away from home in an unfamiliar environment, living with an unknown family. However there are extremely limited alternatives that enable children to experience France and improve their French should they choose not to do an Exchange Program.
France en Famille offers the opportunity for parents to experience an unforgettable French holiday with their child, discovering the magnificent city of Paris, French history and traditions, and the beautiful hill villages and colourful country markets of Provence; while at the same time the students practice and improve their French, immerse themselves in French culture and enjoy time with others.
Traveling in a small group of maximum 16 people, your experienced tour manager and teacher is an expert dedicated to offering a fascinating and entertaining holiday for both adults and teenagers alike, ensuring that you and your child have an experience in France that both of you will keep as a treasured memory. This 2 week tour has been deliberately planned for the 2010 Mid-year school holidays to accommodate students and it is designed to be a rewarding, cultural experience for both mother/father and daughter/son in the rural beauty of Provence and the urban chic of Paris. **Please note – alternatively, this is also an excellent opportunity for Grandparents and Grandchildren to travel together!
The students will have regular practice learning and speaking French with native speakers whilst the parents will have lots of opportunity to shop, read, relax and have fun whilst participating in interesting excursions to remarkable historical and educational sites throughout the regions. We will introduce you and your student to the hidden corners of these two areas that we think are exceptional and unforgettable.
The emphasis will be on having fun together in a small group environment, the students challenging themselves without feeling threatened or intimidated and for them to participate in the activities, games and events we have planned for them to share with you. There will be lots of time for sight-seeing, relaxing, shopping, walking and talking as well as more structured activities such as a cooking class, a school visit, a food competition, guided tours in French, journal-writing, a French lesson, orienteering visits to places, market buying excursions and a visual presentation that they create for us, as well as lots of shared meals and ordering in French.
Every encouragement will be given to the students – and parents (if they like!) - to ask, think and inquire in French and challenge themselves. The shopping is literally irresistible, the cuisine is a delight, the weather is beautiful in July and the lavender is out all over Provence.
Your Tour Manager
Your Tour Manager and guide for the entire tour will be Kate Stedman, who has worked with Toujours France for the past six years taking tours to France. She is a battlefield historian and ex-English and French teacher who was head of History at Loreto Mandeville Hall for many years. She understands and has had much experience teaching teenage students as well as having a passionate love and wide knowledge of France’s culture, traditions and history.
“Many of my students come to me for practice in oral French as they seldom get enough opportunity to hear and speak French whilst studying it in Australia and they lack confidence to try. This tour is designed to help them with this”
