The highlights were the train ride through the Pyrenees on the Little Yellow Train, and the cruise along the Canal du Midi. We are now devotees of barging and will be along to do a different one again! We also loved Collioure… and its shops! Sitting at the harbour front for dinner with our seafood and Rosé was one of our favourite evenings.

We are obsessive Francophiles and it was great to experience a new region that we had never visited. There were hardly any other tourists around and many places quite unspoilt. What a treat staying in such a beautiful hotel in Carcassonne, and being able to wander in the old city of an evening.

I am a keen walker, and had some lovely mornings walking by the canal. But it was such a treat to also sit down to such beautiful meals, especially when they were served on deck and we could see the lovely sights as we ate! Having lunch as we went down the 7 flight Fonserrannes locks was incredible.
