In more detail

Provence in France and the Cinque Terre in Italy are two of the most picturesque places in the world in which to walk, and this tour includes spectacular sights, fascinating history and mouth watering cuisine in both regions.

The tour begins in the Italian port city of Genoa from where you will transfer to your base in Levanto on the Ligurian Riviera, and stay in a lovely hotel in the heart of the village. Exploring the Cinque Terre over the next 6 days you will discover the five villages that make up the Cinque Terre, walking along cliff-side paths with exhilarating sea and mountain views and enjoying exceptional food and wine. Take a ferry trip to famous Portovenere and walk to the castle on the craggy outcrop and hike across the promontory from the monastery of San Fruttuoso to Portofino, playground to the rich and famous.

From the Cinque Terre we travel onwards to Provence, and ancient cobblestone hill villages, Roman ruins including the magnificent Pont du Gard aqueduct, stunning mountain views, historic fortresses and the best markets in France, which are discovered on your walks throughout the beautiful Vaucluse region. Picnics and café lunches in picturesque locations, and dinners in village squares and courtyard garden restaurants, make up a quintessential picture of one of France most beautiful regions. We stay for 6 nights in an exquisite boutique hotel in an historic mill house, retaining waterways running from the adjacent Sorgue River and adding delightful outdoor areas where you can spend your evenings relaxing. The tour finishes in Paris, from where you can extend your travels throughout the rest of Europe and the UK.
